More patients get access to medicines within the high-cost protection
29 May 2019 - From June 2 next year, patients who obtain prescription drugs at pharmacies will be able to switch to an equivalent drug that is included in the high-cost protection, even if the drug on the prescription is not included in the high-cost protection.
Today, pharmacies will only replace drugs that are included in the high-cost protection. The change occurs as a result of legislative changes that also allow for the exchange of so-called infectious agents.
- The change means that more patients will have access to medicines within the high-cost protection. It will also bring cost savings for the regions, ”says Inger Erlandsson, Head of Department at TLV.
