AbbVie receives positive CHMP opinion for upadacitinib (Rinvoq) for the treatment of adults and adolescents with severe alopecia areata

29 June 2026 - Positive CHMP opinion is supported by data from the Phase 3 UP-AA clinical program in which upadacitinib achieved the primary endpoint of Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score ≤ 20 and key secondary endpoints, including improvements in eyebrows and eyelashes, at week 24.

AbbVie today announced that the EMA's CHMP has adopted a positive opinion recommending the approval of upadacitinib (Rinvoq; 15 mg and 30 mg, once daily) for the treatment of adult and adolescent patients with severe alopecia areata.
