Addressing the challenge of common chronic diseases — a view from the FDA

New England Journal of Medicine

3 February 2024 - Of the 10 most common causes of death in the United States, 7 are chronic diseases: heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and chronic lung, liver, and kidney diseases. 

These common chronic diseases are partly responsible for the recent startling decrease in life expectancy in the United States.
