After 10 hours and a pile of rejected amendments, Democrats advance their drug pricing bill out of two key committees
18 October 2019 - Republicans wheeled into the committee room a dozen boxes, overflowing with thousands of pages of printed amendments, in hopes of dramatically changing Democrats’ signature drug pricing bill.
Some were snarky — like a proposal to rename the bill after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s top health policy aide, Wendell Primus, who has gotten heat from both Republicans and Democrats for his role in crafting the proposal. Some were more serious, like requiring insurers share rebates for insulin with patients at the pharmacy counter.
Others simply repealed Republicans’ least favourite parts of the bill.
