AIA launches insurance to pay huge costs of immunotherapy cancer drugs

22 March 2017 - Immunotherapy drugs can offer patients the chance of beating cancer, but the costs are high.

In New Zealand, any cancer patient whose best hope lies with immunotherapy drugs could find themselves having to pay for it privately.

Insurer AIA has added an optional "cancer treatment benefit" to its trauma insurance policies to help policyholders afford cancer drugs not paid for by either the state healthcare system, or their medical insurer.
