As CMS asks for the public’s feedback on implementing the Inflation Reduction Act, unresolved issues related to drug price negotiations remain

11 January 2022 - On 11 January, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a timeline for implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act’s drug pricing provisions, including price negotiations for a limited subset of medicines. 

Interestingly, CMS is enlisting the public’s feedback throughout the process of price negotiations between Medicare and biopharmaceutical manufacturers. As CMS asks for the public’s help, several unresolved issues remain.
