Assessing transferability in systematic reviews of health economic evaluations – a review of methodological guidance

20 February 2022 - For assessing cost effectiveness, health technology assessment organisations may use primary economic evaluations or systematic reviews of health economic evaluations. 

A prerequisite for meaningful results of systematic reviews of health economic evaluations is that the results from existing primary economic evaluations are transferable to the decision context (e.g, health technology assessment jurisdiction).  A particularly pertinent issue is the high variability of costs and resource needs across jurisdictions. 

Our objective was to review the methods documents of health technology assessment organisations and compare their recommendations on considering transferability in systematic reviews of health economic evaluation.
