ATAGI/THANZ statement provides further guidance for the AstraZeneca vaccine and narrows contra-indication
23 May 2021 - The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation and the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand have released a joint statement on thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome and the use of the COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca.
The joint statement provides updated information about thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome and reaffirms the previous advice of the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation regarding the safe use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
It provides greater clarity on the nature of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome and narrows the conditions determined to be contra-indications for use of the vaccine.
