Australian Medical Association warns hospital 'funding crisis' jeopardises patient safety

29 January 2019 - Some $130 billion in Federal Government funding allocated to Australia's public hospitals over four years won't be enough to stop a funding crisis that is putting patients at risk, doctors have warned.

The Australian Medical Association's pre-budget submission has renewed calls for additional public hospital funding, saying there was a "funding crisis" that was affecting the safety of patients.

"Despite their importance and despite our reliance on our hospitals to save lives, and improve quality of life, they have been chronically underfunded for too long," the submission read.
