Beefed-up PHARMAC funding would be welcome Budget boost
30 April 2019 - In just four weeks' time, the Finance Minister will deliver the Government's Wellbeing Budget.
With an electorate already sceptical about the over-reliance on buzzwords, let alone Treasury's sudden fixation with sun and moon feelings, the pressure is mounting on Grant Robertson to pull a rabbit out of the hat.
After all, the Prime Minister's self-titled Year of Delivery looks increasingly threadbare. KiwiBuild remains a smouldering mess, reducing child poverty has failed to transpire, registered unemployed recipients shot up 11 per cent in the year to March and the holy grail of the Government's tax reform ambitions, a capital gains tax, has been abandoned.
