The big drug companies say they'll fight cuts to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in next week's federal budget.

The Health Minister Sussan Ley says there will be significant price cuts for some drugs. And the savings to the Government will be used to list important new medicines on the scheme.

But the makers of those drugs say the cuts will have the opposite effect.
