Bristol Myers Squibb receives European Commission approval for Opdivo (nivolumab) plus Yervoy (ipilimumab) with two cycles of chemotherapy for first-line treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer

6 November 2020 - Approval based on Phase 3 CheckMate-9LA trial results showing superior overall survival in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, regardless of PD-L1 expression or tumour histologies.

Bristol Myers Squibb today announced that the European Commission has approved Opdivo (nivolumab) plus Yervoy (ipilimumab) with two cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy for the first-line treatment of adult patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer whose tumours have no sensitizsng epidermal growth factor receptor mutation or anaplastic lymphoma kinase translocation. 

The combination of Opdivo plus Yervoy with two cycles of chemotherapy is the first dual immunotherapy-based treatment option approved for patients in the European Union with this disease.
