Bristol Myers Squibb receives positive CHMP opinion for CAR T-cell therapy Abecma (idecabtagene vicleucel) in earlier lines of therapy for triple class exposed relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma

26 January 2024 - Recommendation for approval based on Phase 3 KarMMa-3 study in which Abecma demonstrated superiority over standard regimens, significantly improved progression-free survival and a well-established safety profile with mostly low-grade occurrences of cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity.

Bristol Myers Squibb today announced the CHMP of the EMA has recommended marketing authorisation approval of Abecma (idecabtagene vicleucel) for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma who have received at least two prior therapies, including an immunomodulatory agent, a proteasome inhibitor and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody.
