Busy dad with leukaemia getting 'outdated treatment'

23 February 2024 - A West Coast dad is receiving “outdated treatment” for his leukaemia because PHARMAC’s policies are blocking clinical trials, a health leader has said.

Steven Dwyer, 47, from Greymouth, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in November. He was flown to Christchurch where he started intense treatment within 24 hours of the cancer being detected.
