19 January 2017 - This fifth edition of the CADTH Style Guide provides the most current style and language usage conventions for editing and writing CADTH material, based on the latest medical, scientific, and editorial industry standards at the time of publication.
New sections have been introduced in this edition: Clear Writing, Social Media, and short, handy “Cheat Sheets” specific to various CADTH products. The updated Guide now also includes more information on statistics in the Numbers section, and the expanded CADTH Style and Preferred Usage section covers more CADTH style preferences. In addition, some sections have been updated according to trends and current conventions.
With language continuously in flux, an in-house style guide is essential for providing guidelines that ensure consistency and excellence across an organisation’s written products and services. At CADTH, these products include reports, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, Knowledge Mobilisation tools, correspondence, and posters. Publishing Services, through the CADTH Style Guide, tries to ensure that the publications it produces for public consumption are uniform in style, tone, and language, and that they all reflect the CADTH brand.
