Calls to expand access to oral COVID-19 drugs as expiry dates loom

23 June 2022 - Thousands of doses of expensive anti-viral drugs could be wasted if more Australians do not become eligible to take the treatments that have been found to reduce the risk of hospitalisation and death from COVID-19.

That’s the view of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, along with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and some infectious disease experts, which is calling for more high-risk people to be able to take the oral antiviral drugs.
