Changes to Medicare Advantage and Part D will provide better coverage, more access and improved transparency for Medicare beneficiaries

CMS

15 January 2021 - Today, the CMS issued a final rule that further advances the agency’s efforts to strengthen and modernise the Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug programs.

The changes finalised today are generally effective for the 2022 plan year and will potentially lower enrolee cost sharing on some of the most expensive prescription drugs.

This final rule will allow enrolees to know in advance and compare their out-of-pocket payments for different prescription drugs. The changes will result in an estimated $75.4 million in savings to the federal government over ten years.
