5 June 2026 - Chiesi Global Rare Diseases today announced that the European Commission has approved lomitapide capsules for use in children 5 years of age and older with homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia, for use alongside diet and other lipid-lowering treatments, including LDL-apheresis where available.

The European Commission approval is based on evidence from a Phase 3, open-label, single-arm, multi-centre study evaluating lomitapide in 43 paediatric participants aged 5 to 17 years with homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia.
