COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen: EMA recommendation on booster dose

EMA

15 December 2021 - EMA’s CHMP has concluded that a booster dose of COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen may be considered at least two months after the first dose in people aged 18 years and above.

The recommendation follows data showing that a booster dose of COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen given at least two months after the first dose in adults led to a rise in antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19).

The risk of thrombosis in combination with thrombocytopenia or other very rare side effects after a booster is not known and is being carefully monitored.
