COVID-19; will it result in a total lockdown of new PBS listings?

MAESTrO Database

26 March 2020 - The Minister of Health is yet to announce any new PBS listings that will come into effect on 1 April 2020.

This is unusual as the Minister is always looking for an opportunity to spruik the listing of a new medicine on the PBS as proof that the Morrison Government is committed to ensuring that Australians can access affordable medicines, when they need them, remains rock solid.

The following new medicines/indications were recommended by the PBAC in November 2019.  All things being equal, they should be listed on the PBS on 1 April 2020.

  • Brigatinib (Alunbrig) - new medicine
  • Certolizumab (Cimzia) - new indication
  • Evolocumab (Repatha) - new indication
  • Lorlatinib (Lorviqua) - new medicine
  • Trastuzumab emtansine (Kadcyla) - new indication
  • Trifluridine with tipiracil hydrochloride (Lonsurf) - new indication
  • Upadacitinib monohydrate (Rinvoq) - new medicine
