27 March 2019 - Officials are set to meet again “soon” with US drugs giant Vertex to “break the current impasse” over access to medications including Orkambi.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Vertex has agreed to fresh talks, opening the door to a potential future deal. Last night, a Department of Health spokesman told us: “NHS England and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence met with Vertex last week to continue negotiations. “They have agreed to meet again soon to identify ways of breaking the current impasse so we can get this treatment to those who need it as soon as possible.”
