Donald Trump vows health ‘insurance for all’

17 January 2017 - Donald Trump says he will provide health “insurance for everybody” under a near-complete plan to replace Barack Obama’s signature healthcare reforms.

The US president-elect announced the goal yesterday in interviews for newspapers around the world in which he branded NATO “obsolete”, denounced German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s “catastrophic mistake” on refugees, praised Brexit and flagged a nuclear deal with Russia.

After the interviews were published, Mr Trump returned to his preferred media forum, Twitter, to attack CIA director John Brennan for suggesting the Republican lacked “a full appreciation of Russian capabilities, Russia’s intentions and actions”.
