Drug company Lilly refuses to list Mounjaro on PBS, says price too low

24 April 2026 - Drug company Eli Lilly has refused to place Mounjaro on the PBS despite the regulator recommending it be listed to treat diabetes, with the American pharmaceutical giant saying the Government was unwilling to pay a fair price.

The stand-off between Lilly and the PBAC, which oversees the medicines subsidisation program, comes amid a year's long dispute between the US and Australia over prices on the PBS.
