26 August 2020 - The August 24 deadline President Trump imposed on pharmaceutical companies to “come up with something that will substantially reduce drug prices” has passed with no announcements by the companies, nor any news of President Trump acting on his threat by actually issuing the last of his “very dramatic” executive orders intended to impose a “massive reduction in drug costs.”
While there is word of the industry coming to the negotiating table, it appears pharma successfully recognised that implementation of the president’s order to set U.S. prices for certain drugs based on what other nations pay was unlikely.
