Drug trials a ‘ticking time bomb’: ex-TGA agent

28 March 2022 - A former TGA official who led the regulator’s inspections program has warned that a lack of independence and oversight in the conduct of clinical trials is a “ticking time bomb” that risks the safety of people participating in drug ­studies.

Clinical researcher Peter Keller, who oversaw the TGA’s inspections program from 2017 to 2022, has spoken out about concerning “regulatory gaps” that stand to undermine the credibility and safety of clinical trials across the country.
