Ellis Unger, an outspoken FDA veteran, retires

12 August 2021 - A top FDA official known for speaking out against controversial drug approval decisions, Ellis Unger, retired this week.

Unger, a 25 year veteran of the FDA, served as the head of the FDA’s Office of Drug Evaluation-I, an office that reviewed medicines for a range of conditions from high cholesterol to Alzheimer’s and depression.
