EMA publishes EPA for ceftazidime with avibactam (Zavicefta)
13 July 2016 - The EMA has published an EPAR for AstraZeneca's new combination antibiotic Zavicefta.
The European Commission approved Zavicefta on 24 June 2016 for the treatment of the following infections in adults:
- Complicated intra-abdominal Infection
- Complicated urinary tract infection, including pyelonephritis
- Hospital-acquired pneumonia, including ventilator-associated pneumonia
Zavicefta is also indicated for the treatment of infections due to aerobic Gram-negative organisms in adult patients with limited treatment options.
Zavicefta will be subjected to additional monitoring by the EMA.
