Fake drugs could put patients at risk after no-deal Brexit

8 February 2019 - Patients could be put at risk from fake medicines if the UK exits the EU without a deal, pharmaceutical leaders have warned.

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, the trade body for the UK branded pharmaceutical industry, said the UK will drop out of “safest medicines system in the world” in the event of no-deal Brexit.

The Europe-wide Falsified Medicines Directive aims to protect patients from falsified or fake medicines.
