Germany extends drug price freeze

IQWiG
19 December 2013 - As expected, both houses of German Parliament on Thursday passed legislation extending Germany's drug pricing freeze, which caps drug prices at 2009 levels, through March 31, 2014. The freeze was set to expire December 31. According to a government source who asked to remain anonymous, the extension is an interim measure while the new government works towards legislation to continue the drug pricing freeze, set mandatory drug rebates at 7% and eliminate benefit assessments of drugs that were launched before January 2011, when the drug pricing law AMNOG came into effect.
