18 January 2017 - Australian healthcare leaders have warned new health minister Greg Hunt of the challenges ahead, with concerns raised about rising costs and the need for open dialogue with industry.
Carlo Montagner, head of Australian pharmaceutical company Specialised Therapeutics, said he hoped one of Mr Hunt’s key priorities would be to continue to foster engagement between the government and the pharmaceutical industry.
He said the industry hit a “rocky patch” around 1.5 years ago with the department of health over a memorandum of understanding on the forward vision of pricing and reimbursement methodologies for novel medicines.
“That relationship was starting to be rebuilt by both parties being more open to dialogue,” he said.
