Health premium increases ‘must fall’: Greg Hunt

28 May 2019 - Greg Hunt wants insurers to slash premium increase­s next year — even if the government has to embark on another­ round of reforms — and has demanded that states accept the ­Coalition’s public hospital funding offer.

The Health Minister has also called on primar­y health groups to help him develop a 10-year plan for Medicare, a long-term approach to polic­y development that Scott Morrison may look to adopt across government.

After holding his Mornington Peninsula seat of Flinders, Mr Hunt was again entruste­d with the health portfolio and given a separate role assisting the Prime Minister on cabinet and public servic­e strategy. He vowed to remai­n responsible yet responsive.
