28 May 2019 - Greg Hunt wants insurers to slash premium increases next year — even if the government has to embark on another round of reforms — and has demanded that states accept the Coalition’s public hospital funding offer.
The Health Minister has also called on primary health groups to help him develop a 10-year plan for Medicare, a long-term approach to policy development that Scott Morrison may look to adopt across government.
After holding his Mornington Peninsula seat of Flinders, Mr Hunt was again entrusted with the health portfolio and given a separate role assisting the Prime Minister on cabinet and public service strategy. He vowed to remain responsible yet responsive.
