Health reform agenda to maintain momentum

Consumer Health Forum

21 September 2015 - CHF would like to congratulate the new health team in Prime Minister Turnbull’s government and looks forward to working with them as they move forward on reforming our health system says Leanne Wells, CEO of Consumers Health Forum.

“Sussan Ley’s continuation in this role will ensure that the important reform agenda she has embarked on will continue and bring out a health system which meets the Australian people’s needs and is sustainable into the future. This reform agenda is very broad as it includes many aspects of the health system including primary health, Medicare payments, mental health, private health insurance and pharmacy arrangements.”

“We have the opportunity for consumers, clinicians and government to work together to move from review to a coherent and integrated set of reforms that are designed around the consumers and around improving the triple aims for health-better outcomes, efficiency /better value and most importantly better patient experience.”

“It is critical that we modernise our primary health care system to provide better care for people with complex and chronic needs. The Minister’s Primary Health Care Advisory Group has been consulting widely and will be putting their first report to the Minister by the end of the year.”
