4 February 2017 - The Turnbull government needs to be “brave” and tackle “hideous” healthcare costs, health insurance boss Rob Bransby warns, saying 2017 is a line in the sand for the sector.
The HBF managing director said the percentage of Australians with private health insurance was declining for the first time in 15 years.
“That is a major worry because the preservation of the balanced system between public and private is really critical,” he said.
“Both sides of government need to acknowledge the contribution from the private sector … it’s $24 billion in a pool of $150bn.”
