It’s time for Congress to go all in on drug pricing reform

6 September 2019 - The partisan stars are appear to be aligned in Washington on passing federal drug pricing reform, but not without its share of political fits and starts. 

The latest proposal to suffer a setback has been Trump’s rebate rule, a clear signal that the Administration has pushed about as far as it can administratively.

Only Congress, working with the Administration, can pass strong legislation to ensure that Americans see price relief at the pharmacy counter. The Senate Finance Committee’s highly-anticipated bipartisan package is a good step towards comprehensive legislation and evidence that bipartisan solutions are difficult, but not impossible.
