Julia would breathe easier if living with asthma wasn't quite so costly

11 June 2019 - In a bad month, Julia West spends about $100 a week on asthma medication.

She suffers chronic severe brittle asthma and estimates her medication costs her about $230 a month on average. That increases when her symptoms flare up.

"The thing about asthma is that it's a silent and invisible disease so when it's not flared up you think you're OK," she said.

"If you've got other expenses in your life like bills you're going to prioritise that over drugs you need to control and manage the disease."
