21 October 2022 - Labor will list four new medicines on the PBS from November to offer Australians cheaper treatments for serious conditions, and reveal a new $787 million price tag for its plan to slash general scripts to no more than $30 from January.
Health Minister Mark Butler will make the announcement in Adelaide on Saturday, declaring that the plan to cut the cost of scripts by $12.50 could save a family taking two or three medications as much as $450 a year. The policy, unveiled during the election campaign, was initially costed at $765.3 million. But the budget will show the cost has risen to $787.1 million over the forward estimates.
