Life or death under PHARMAC - part one

Radio New Zealand

17 June 2019 - Many New Zealanders are desperately pleading for PHARMAC to fund life-saving medication for them or their loved ones.

Last week, First Up told the story of 14-year-old Stella Beswick who has spinal muscular atrophy. Her family have pleaded with PHARMAC to fund Spinraza - a drug that is funded in 49 other countries and has been proven to halt the disorder, and in some cases reverse deterioration.

The story invoked such a huge response from listeners and followers on social media who shared similar experiences.

Today we begin a week-long series sharing some of their stories with you.
