Long-lasting contraceptive gets new PBS listing

26 October 2025 - Women will be given more birth control choices from Saturday with a monthly vaginal ring, which can be inserted and removed at home, to be made cheaper for Medicare card holders.

NuvaRing is a flexible vaginal ring that slowly releases oestrogen and progesterone to prevent ovulation. Unlike IUDs, a NuvaRing is used on a monthly cycle similar to the oral pill and can be removed at home.
