Medicare for all instead of private health insurance? Question vexes 2020 Democrats

28 July 2019 - Some presidential candidates drew fire after vowing to abolish private insurance, and the issue will likely surface again at coming debates.

Democratic presidential candidates launched their campaigns promising to expand health-care coverage.

But in the second set of Democratic debates, on Tuesday and Wednesday, front-runners backing Medicare for All will likely have to defend their pledges to take private health insurance away in the process.
