31 May 2019 - When Judith found out she could only purchase the drug that could prolong her life out-of-pocket, she was “shocked”.
The 69-year-old Melbourne woman has metastatic breast cancer, a condition that means her breast cancer has spread to the rest of the body and can’t be cured.
Judith is forking out $4500 per month for a drug called Ibrance, all because she doesn’t qualify for accessing it through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
She and many others with her condition who have received alternative treatment are missing out on accessing the drug that could extend their lives at a subsidised cost.
