Merit Medical receives FDA breakthrough device designation for Embosphere microspheres for use in genicular artery embolisation for symptomatic knee osteoarthritis
7 March 2022 - Merit Medical Systems announced today that it has received breakthrough device designation from the U.S. FDA for Embosphere microspheres for the genicular artery embolisation indication.
Genicular artery embolisation is a procedure intended to reduce pain and disability caused by knee osteoarthritis by reducing blood flow to the knee, minimising the inflammatory process.
