NICE draft guidance recommends novel treatment for debilitating inherited skin condition

18 August 2023 - Around 670 people in England with painful and debilitating skin wounds caused by a rare inherited disorder are set to benefit from a new treatment to help the skin wounds heal faster.

NICE has recommended birch bark extract (Filsuvez, Amryt Pharmaceuticals) for treating skin wounds associated with dystrophic and junctional epidermolysis bullosa in final draft guidance published today as part of its highly specialised technologies programme.
