NSW kidney patient in desperate plea to drug authority

31 May 2017 - A NSW woman suffering an extremely rare life-threatening disease is praying she will be thrown a lifeline by the government's pharmaceutical watchdog.

For the past nine years, Sarah Grant, 29, has lived with Atypical haemolytic-uremic syndrome (aHUS) that attacks key organs including the kidneys, heart and brain.

The disease, largely genetic, occurs in peaks and troughs and symptoms include extreme tiredness, headaches, diarrhoea and vomiting.
