Patients in limbo as price disputes swamp PBS medicine approvals

8 July 2026 - The body that’s supposed to approve new drugs for listing on the PBS is instead forced to deal with pharma companies refusing to accept Australia’s prices.

Pharmaceutical companies have swamped the nation’s medicines regulator with submissions for more favourable price deals for new drugs as patients are forced to wait for access to therapies that are stuck in limbo.
