2 January 2019 - Second lowest annual number of real world new medicines listed in New Zealand Pharmaceutical Schedule over the past 10 years.
Another very lean year has passed in New Zealand with only five real world new medicines being listed in the New Zealand Pharmaceutical Schedule in 2019:
All of these five medicines are funded in Australia and other developed countries.
Five is the second lowest annual total since 2010; only one real world new medicine (Zytiga) was listed in the New Zealand Pharmaceutical Schedule in 2015.
One can rest assured that in its Annual Review and Annual Report for 2019, PHARMAC will state confidently that it has listed many more new medicines in the New Zealand Pharmaceutical Schedule. Most of these will of course be new generic medicines.
The waiting list continues to grow.
