PHARMAC report: should rich people get subsidised medicine?

29 July 2020 - Should wealthy New Zealanders have access to subsidised medicines when they could be investing in better health insurance?

That's the question economist Dr Bryce Wilkinson is calling on the Government to answer, in a new report published by the New Zealand Initiative today.

Wilkinson's report "PHARMAC: The right prescription?" examines the strengths and weaknesses of the country's drug buying agency, and has been sent to Health Minister Chris Hipkins and PHARMAC's chief executive Sarah Fitt for consideration.
