14 October 2021 - The rollout of third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to thousands of immunocompromised people has been limited by confusion about payment for pharmacists, which has stopped them from offering the shot.
From Monday, 500,000 people across Australia – including cancer patients and transplant recipients – became eligible to receive the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine as a third dose in light of evidence they would not receive adequate protection from the virus after two doses of any vaccine.
However, the federal Department of Health is not yet reporting how many third shots have actually been administered.
