Chantelle Lindsay died on 19 February, aged 23, from the ravages of cystic fibrosis without having had the benefit of a new drug that is available in the United States but not yet in Canada.
In a CBC report of her death, a Health Canada spokesperson was reported as saying the planned introduction of more stringent price controls on new drugs was not to blame because “evidence shows that lower prices do not limit access to new medicines.”
