Price feud over Mounjaro denies Australians access to cheaper diabetes and weight loss drug
24 April 2026 - Hundreds of thousands of Australians with type 2 diabetes mellitus could miss out on access to Mounjaro due to a bitter pricing stoush between the Government and its manufacturer.
The company confirmed its medicine Mounjaro would not be listed on the PBS for people living with type 2 diabetes mellitus — despite receiving a positive recommendation from the PBAC — due to “unrealistic and unviable” price conditions.
