Restrictions put on diabetes drug Ozempic leave users feeling ‘fat shamed’
13 August 2022 - A drug that caused a buzz for its ability to help people shed kilos has now been restricted to diabetics only, causing a divide between those using it for their health.
Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, the makers of Ozempic notified the TGA of a shortage due to an increase in consumer demand from extensive off-label prescribing for obesity management, for which Ozempic is not indicated.
